Racial Equity Pledge
A pledge for racial equity is a commitment made by individuals or organizations to actively work towards creating a more just and equitable society, where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of their racial or ethnic background. The pledge demonstrates a genuine desire to challenge and dismantle systemic racism and work towards building a more inclusive and equitable future.
Racial Equity Pledge
As individuals and as a community, we recognize the urgent need for racial equity and justice. We
acknowledge that systemic racism and discrimination have caused immense harm and continue to
perpetuate disparities in our society. Today, we take a stand and pledge our commitment to work
towards racial equity and inclusion.
We pledge to:
Educate Ourselves: We will continuously educate ourselves about the historical and contemporary
impacts of racism. We will seek to understand our own biases and privilege, challenging them to become
better allies and advocates for racial equity.
Listen and Learn: We will listen to the experiences and stories of those affected by racism and
discrimination. We will create spaces for open and honest dialogue, valuing the voices and perspectives
of those who have been marginalized.
Confront Injustice: We will actively confront racism in all its forms, whether subtle or overt. We will not
remain silent in the face of discrimination, and we will call out racism when we encounter it.
Promote Inclusivity: We will work to create inclusive environments where everyone feels valued,
respected, and welcomed. We will celebrate and embrace diversity as a strength, recognizing the
richness it brings to our community.
Advocate for Policy Change: We will advocate for policies and practices that promote racial equity and
dismantle systemic barriers. We will support initiatives that address racial disparities in education,
healthcare, employment, housing, and criminal justice.
Empower Others: We will actively support and uplift voices from racial and ethnic minorities,
empowering them to lead and influence positive change in our community.
Hold Ourselves Accountable: We will regularly evaluate our actions and progress towards racial equity. We will hold ourselves and others accountable for upholding the principles of this pledge.
Commit to the Long-Term: We understand that achieving racial equity is an ongoing process that
requires sustained effort. We commit to staying dedicated to this cause for as long as it takes to create
a just and equitable society.
